About
Hello, my name is Krish!
I am a 28-year and I work in Technical for a Food Company. At university, I studied Food and Nutrition at Coventry University. I have always been interested in the science behind food, baking and cooking. Over the course, I have learnt there is a lot of chemistry and biology involved in baking and I hope to tell you about the different chemical and biological processes that occur in baking such as yeast fermentation, sugar crystallisation, etc. During term time at university, I used to live in Coventry with 5 other people, they always get to try the new things I make and they will straight way tell me if they like it or not. The name Krish The Baker came from one of my housemates, who put it as a hashtag when she posted pictures of my cakes on her Instagram account! #krishthebaker
I really got into baking when I was 10 years old but I have been making cakes and biscuits at an even younger age. When I was around 5 years old, my mom and I would bake cakes together as she found this was a great way to keep me quite and busy for a few hours. I started baking simple cakes and biscuits for a few years and then slowing moved onto more complex bakes over the years. Around 2010 when the first series of The Great British Bake Off was shown on TV I was inspired to start baking new things and be more adventurous. Before the Bake Off, I never made things like pastries, mousse cakes, soufflés, etc. The Great British Bake Off gives me new ideas and even shows off recipes I have never heard of.
This blog will show the recipes that I have created, recipes that I found online that I like to bake often and my attempts to bake every single technical challenge that was shown on every series of The Great British Bake Off (there are around 50 challenges to do, so it might take a while!). I will try to show as many pictures (and maybe videos in the future) as I can in my blog post so that you will have a step-by-step guide on how to follow the recipe. I hope to start a YouTube channel in the future when I get a good camera, so I can post videos on how to make some of these recipes. I am visual learner; I find that pictures and videos are the most effective way for me to learn new recipes and techniques.
